The residents say they are disturbed by the lack of an access road to their homes, especially during the rainy season, due to the condition of a local bridge in the area which is currently inaccessible.
The bridge was washed away in 2025 after a heavy downpour, leaving motorists stranded and unable to access their homes.
As a result, residents have had to improvise by taking a longer route through the Bauchi Furniture Company–Gudun area before connecting to another road that leads to their homes.
Abdulqadir Bala, a resident of the community, described the situation as devastating and disturbing.
“We don’t know what to do because we called on the government to help us, but up till this time nothing has been done. This is what we have been fearing, and thank God no life was lost when the bridge was washed away,” he said.
Another resident, Muhammad Ibrahim, attributed the incident to a lack of good governance.
“If we had a responsible government that cares about its people, such a thing would not happen. If we had politicians in this area, we wouldn’t have been in such a situation. But God is watching, and one day everything will be over,” he said.
Zamani TV reporter Aminu Harsanu Guyaba contacted the Chairman of Bauchi Local Government Area, Mahmud Babamaji, to inform him about the situation in Styre Quarters. He responded:
“Thank you for reaching out to me. As a government, we will do everything possible to help them. We will write to the authorities concerned.”
Despite the chairman’s assurance, the community says it is yet to receive a delegation from the local government secretariat to inspect the damaged bridge and commiserate with residents affected by the flood.
Zamani TV gathered that within three months September, October, and November 2025 the Bauchi Local Government Area received a FAAC allocation of ₦3,150,154,526.14.
However, the community is still struggling to have its bridge repaired by the government, but residents are making efforts to repair it by contributing money to have an alternative.
